We love doing outreach. We love spreading FIRST to everyone in our community and beyond because FIRST is special to us, and we wish to make it special to others too.
To the left, is a picture of Sumobots. Sumobots is a game made up with two mindstorm robots that kids attach their own defenses and weapons made of legos. After completed, the robots battle each other by driving forward until they reach the edge, and then turning around to go at the other again. Sumobots is one of our annual outreach events that we have been doing for the past 5 years. It's held during Denver Days, our community's annual celebration. Along with Sumobots, we also participate in the parade with a float. Starting this past year, we introduced even more fun activities beside sumobots to reach more ages. Among these new activities were Virtual Reality and lego derby races. |

Cybots hosting Annual FLL Regional
(Above) Kristen Mundhenke (studying material engineering at Iowa State and former Cybot member) led an engaging science activity for the FLL students. It involved liquid nitrogen, balloons, marshmallows, grapes, fire, a fireproof tile from the space shuttle, a penny, glass rods, and other various fun stuff that you can dip in liquid nitrogen and/or set on fire.
"If theres an FLL event around you, sign up. Not only do you get to dress crazily, but you get to have so much fun. Its [refereeing] pretty easy too. Get your friends to sign up too." -Alek Erikson "See if you can snag some liquid nitrogen, that always gets kids' attention." -Kristen Mundhenke |
